The Doors in Illinois Entertainer, 2012

On the eve of his 73rd birthday, former Chicagoan Ray Manzarek and co-founder-keyboardist of The Doors has a cover story and interview in the February 2012 Illinois Entertainer.

The Entertainer’s interview with Manzarek is reprinted in full online, Cover Story: The Doors. In it Manzarek talks about his childhood in Chicago and going to blues clubs to see Muddy Waters, and recording “L.A. Woman.” Oddly, the interview sounds a little contentious and the interviewer admits to a miscommunication with Manzarek.
